The hiring company works in the marine industry.
With this company there are 9 levels of welders which progress from level one through 9 as they demonstrate certain competence and qualities. Moving from one level to another is primarily competence based. Candidates will have a welding test for about an hour to see what level placement they would start at. There will be training for all welders so that they ultimately end up “coast guard certified”, which is a recognized certification. MIG and Stick welding experience is required: flat, vertical and horizontal.
The candidate will be working on ship repair, barge repair and new ship fabrication.
The starting rate is $13 per hour but can end up at $28 per hour once certified and at level 9. In addition other entitlements such as:
SUTA + FUTA
medicade 7.65% x 2 (both parties pay it).
leave: after 90 days they qualify for 1 week. After 5 years 2weeks. Etc.
25% (up to 5%) of their contribution.
