Job Description:

Saminco Inc seeks a skilled Electronics Test Technician to perform complex electronic and high power testing, run software functional tests, and work with Engineering in product development.
Responsibilities:

Conduct routine testing, troubleshooting, & determine modifications and/or repair of new solid-state electric traction & propulsion controllers for coal and hard rock mining drive systems, battery systems, and trolley cable vehicles
Cleaning & Repair of Returned material when applicable
Provide technical feedback to electrical / software engineering design teams for drive performance & testing procedure improvement
Perform complex electronic and software tests in accordance with defined engineering procedures or guidelines under the direction of engineers.
Build engineering prototypes and test fixtures under the direction of an electrical engineer or Testing Dept. Manager. Assist in creating, documenting and updating test procedures
Assist engineers in the evaluation of new electronic components.
Assemble / Maintain test fixtures, load banks, and other components common to product testing & development.
Provide support to engineering staff as needed.
Process Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) under the direction of engineers or Test Dept. Manager.
Follow and improve R&D and test processes. Document and maintain pertinent test records.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering technology or foreign equivalent based on academic credentials evaluation, training and/or experience
Four years experience as an Electronics Test Technician or related, with strong capability in electrical test
Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits
Ability to read Printed Circuit Board schematics & identify function of circuit design
Familiarity with modern test equipment
Must be able to successfully pass Saminco’s Basic Electronic Exam
Experience using common electronic test equipment
Practical knowledge of 3-phase power systems
Experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and associated applications
Preferred Skills:

Some mechanical testing will be required
Troubleshooting skills essential
Strong writing and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills, follow detailed direction, and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in team environment
Two months alternate occupation experience related to / or in underground mining industry
Experience with High voltage systems (995V or higher) and /or Variable Frequency motor drives.
