Purpose:

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in welding and cutting of products and structures applying knowledge of welding and cutting techniques, materials, and equipment, and fabrication requirements: Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations required

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in welding and cutting of products and applying knowledge of welding and cutting techniques, materials, and equipment, and fabrication requirements
  • Maintains certification record of all employees within the department
  • Schedules weld tests and certification training for employees within the department
  • Analyzes client supplied procedures provided by the operations manager to confirm they are correct and apply CDE procedures as required for fabrication or complete project build.
  • Schedules workers and assigns workers to operational areas, including: shop, job site, or pre-fabrication area(s).
  • Submits requisition for supplies to the company s purchasing department, including: such as weld rods, gas, flux, fixtures, weld test materials, and other items needed to execute upcoming projects
  • Inspects work to ensure that specified standards and quality measurements are achieved
  • Keeps safety on the forefront of the teams focus
  • Trains workers in operation of equipment and client/field/shop standards and procedures
  • May set up machines or make trial welds to make test runs and experimental products
  • Performs other duties as assigned by direct report

Requirements

Experience:

  • 2+ years of welding supervisory experience is preferred
  • 5+ years of welding background experience is required
  • 2+ years of fabrication experience is preferred

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Licenses or Certifications: Skills & Abilities: Physical Requirements: Travel:
  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred
  • Welding Certification preferred
  • WV MSHA Safety Sensitive Personnel preferred
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Technical knowledge and interpretation of technical information
  • Strong welding and fabrication background
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done
  • Walking, stepping, climbing or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves physically getting into and out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10 or more in height
  • Visually see equipment operations well (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
  • Standing, stooping kneeling, squatting, climbing or sitting for long periods of time
  • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work
  • Working at elevated heights
  • Lifting 50 lb. objects as required
  • Carrying 50 lb. objects as required
  • Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments and holidays as required
  • Travel to project locations will occur on an as needed basis
