The Process Maintenance Engineer identifies, develops, and implements reliability-based programs to optimize equipment to meet current production requirements. The Process Maintenance Engineer strives to maintain the lowest operating cost and highest safety environment, while integrating appropriate expense and capital investments to enhance long term process reliability

This Position Reports To Director of Engineering

Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Troubleshoot equipment problems and coordinate corrective action.
Provide technical assistance to maintenance and production.
Hire and coordinate outside contractors for both small and large maintenance projects, as well as capital improvement projects.
Actively pursue new technologies to automate, or continuously improve, operating and maintenance efficiency.
Develop and support best practices and industry accepted maintenance standards and methods.
Understand and perform root cause analysis on damaged/failed equipment in an effort to minimize or eliminate repeat problems.
Manage computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and maintain equipment files, with an emphasis on equipment, spare parts, and maintenance procedures.
Manage and control spare parts in the storeroom, balancing stores inventory value and equipment on stream time.
Support and manage processes with strong emphasis on mechanical integrity.
Working knowledge of department budget and long-term direction.
Develop and manage critical safety procedures, routing PM’s, and non-destructive testing procedures for process equipment and infrastructure reliability.
Knowledgeable of all Federal and State regulations that govern the facility and processes.
Implement and adhere to plant safety and environmental policies.
Support and enforce plant housekeeping procedures.
Design and re – design mechanical parts as needed to decrease scrap, increase production, and/or reduce breakdowns.
Manage PLC, HMI, and VFD programs and programming software for production equipment.
Direct infrastructure maintenance and upgrades such as HVAC, concrete floors, lighting, elevators, sprinkler system, etc.

Required Skills

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Engineering plus 5 years of experience or 10 years commensurate work experience
